CLARITY director featured in EI publication “The Business of Research”

Enterprise Ireland have recently published “The Business of Reseach: Building Ireland’s Technology Transfer System”, a publication which reflects two years of consistent and focussed work to build a national technology transfer system. This publication contains examples of high-value businesses that began their life as research projects and are now delivering impressive results as spin-out companies. Professor Barry Smyth, CLARITY director is featured in this publication for his UCD Spin-out company ChangingWorlds.

UCD hosts fourth CLARITY seminar

The fourth CLARITY seminar was held in UCD on Thursday 18th June, in the CSI lecture theatre. Postdoctoral researchers Hyowon Lee, Peter Briggs and Conor Muldoon presented their research to an audience of about sixty people, consisting of individuals from all the CLARITY sites.

ERCIM Workshop on Social Media Analysis "Networked Data Analysis for Social Media", 12 noon to 5pm, 18th June, UCD

This day long workshop will bring together European researchers on networked data analysis to assess the level of interest in collaborating in future research in this general area. This workshop will be of interest to researchers on:

- algorithmic aspects of large-scale networked data analysis

- Innovation Programme

CLARITY researchers show demos at UCD Unilife Science Summer School

The UCD Unilife Science summer school, held on the 8th and 9th of June aims to give fifth year secondary students a taste of what’s on offer in science in UCD.  As part of the School of Computer Science and Informatics, CLARITY researchers Dr Mauro Dragone, Jennifer Treanor and Thomas Holz showcased their robot demos. Mauro and Thomas are pictured below with one of their robots.
