Thesis in Three competition

Thesis in Three-The Elevator Pitch for your PhD
Think you can pitch your PhD in 3 minutes, with just 3 slides to a general audience?
Instead of a CLARITY seminar in May we're running a special event in the evening which gives you an opportunity to showcase and discuss your doctoral work.
The event will be held in the Ginger Man (on Fenian Street, behind the Davenport Hotel) from 7.30pm on Wednesday the 26th of May
Inspired by other formats like Pecha Kucha and the Ignite series, CLARITY researchers will present their doctoral work in a series of concise, rapidly paced talks consisting of 3 slides of precisely one minute each!
If you'd like to participate and showcase your doctoral work, read on!
Who can present?
Anyone who is currently a CLARITY PhD student and has a chosen topic for their thesis is welcome to present, or if you've recently submitted your thesis (within 6 months) you're also welcome to participate.
What to present?
Remember it’s not about giving an update on your work, or about components of your doctoral work. The goal is to present a high-level overview of your entire thesis - what is the crux of it, the goals, motivations, benefits, contributions? If you had 3 minutes to sell your thesis, what would you say?
Why participate?
If you've a transfer presentation coming up and want to crystallize your thinking on your PhD? You've got a great idea you want to share? Want the chance to showcase your work in a relaxed and informal venue? And if not for those reasons, how about some prizes. There will be a prize for the best presentation on the night along with 2 runner-up prizes too!
Getting Involved
If you want to participate just send the title of your presentation to Bridget (bridget.kelly(at)ucd.ie)by April 30th
Any questions or queries- email Bridget or Daragh (daragh.byrne(at)computing.dcu.ie)
Presentation Format
Speakers must present 3 slides in 3 minutes to make their point. Each slide will move on automatically every minute. A template will be provided to the presenters in the first week of May help you build your presentation.
Your Audience
Audience members will be mostly CLARITY staff, students and researchers; however, you should consider your audience to be 'the person on the street'. The goal is to present your work so any person, regardless of their technical expertise can understand your work.
