Smart Landfill project featured in EPA report

The Smart Landfill project, previously funded by the EPA under the STRIVE programme was featured as one of thirteen case studies in their report “Innovation for a Green Economy- Environment and Technology: A win-win story.” The report was launched on June 29th 2009 by Minister for the Environment John Gormley. The Smart Landfill project is concerned with developing new platforms for monitoring the major components of landfill gas (e.g., methane and carbon dioxide) in real-time and relaying the data from the landfill to stakeholders off-site or on-site as needed. The CLARITY researchers involved in the project were Dr Breda Kiernan, Dr Stephen Beirne, Cormac Fay and Professor Dermot Diamond.
