CLARITY Research Seminars in Beijing

Dr Cathal Gurrin (pictured right at Microsoft), based in DCU, recently visited Beijing to give seminars about ongoing CLARITY research at Microsoft Research Asia and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Both seminars focussed on different areas of CLARITY research. At Microsoft Research Asia, Dr Gurrin outlined how visual content and user context can be combined together to successfully manage personal media archives, including digital photo collections, digital video collections and human digital memory (SenseCam) collections.

In the second seminar, at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr Gurrin discussed the Information Retrieval challenges posed by human digital memory research. Both seminars were well received and the future for collaboration between CLARITY and the two institutions looks promising.
